Reactive Attachment Disorder
Reactive Attachment Disorder is a combination of relational, emotional, and behavior traits (often extremes). These traits are a result of developmental gaps due to significant neglect or truama in the early years of life. Children can exhibit poor peer relations, poor eye contact, limited to no remorse for destructive or assaultive behaviors, chronic lying, agitating, and stealing; and preoccupation with mobid topics, destruction or cruelty to animals. Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy

Dr. Hughes' treatment is family based and focused on facilitating the child's ability to establish a secure attachment with his/her caregivers. Developmental attachment theory and research is the primary model for relationship development and trauma resolution. Dan blends various approaches in his treatment modality. These include strategic and structural family therapy, Ericksonian hypnotherapy (utilization principle), psychodynamic principles, psychodrama, interventions congruent with Theraplay, and narrative work.
